    INTRODUCTION

This weekend we raced at the RC Pro Series in St Louis, Missouri. This is the second year for the RC Pro Series organizing on-road races, over the past years they have been the dominating the off-road racing scene. Also in its second year is the Evolution Raceway. The track has been resealed earlier this year and provides good traction with a demanding layout. The track layout is very technical which requires an emphasis on bottom torque and fuel efficiency to run fast lap times.

    QUALIFYING

Qualifying is run using the IMFAR starting procedure and running for ten minutes. Three rounds of qualification would be run on Saturday and one more round on Sunday morning. The top eight fastest times would be locked in the “A” Main and the first and second place finishers from the “B” Main will fill out the 10 cat “A” Main.

After the first three rounds of qualifying my Rody C6 utilizing a 7mm restrictor and 2018 tuned pipe and header captured the provisional TQ position. With the last round to be run in cooler morning conditions the TQ spot was not yet secure. Even with better track and ambient conditions my first day qualifying time held up to claim the TQ position.

Qualifying Results:
1 Mark Sweeney RB Rody C6 Mugen MRX-4R Byrons
2 Drew Ellis Mugen MRX-4R
3 Randy Ramsey

    THE RACE

The “A” Main is scheduled for forty-five minutes in length, so tire choice and size is critical. I used the same tire compound as qualifying but increased the stagger and tire diameter. As the race got underway my plan was to run a smooth pace for the first thirty minute, trying to maintaining minimal tire wear, then charge the last fifteen minutes. Unfortunately tire wear was not a high as I had expected, and I lost valuable time. (turning my fastest lap four lap from the finish). A strong engine and excellent fuel economy from my Rody C6 helped me to a second place finish.

    CONCLUSION

I would like to thank Kevin, Rody and RB USA and for their continued support. Our next race will be in St Paul, Minnesota at the Heart of America Series.
