NORWEGIAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2007 1/8 OFF ROAD
Date of the race:   1-2/9/2007
Place:   NORWAY

 RESULTS/PICTURES

    INTRODUCTION

Friday: Practice starts at 15:00. The track looks really good, flat with different jumps, doubles, quads and tables. And a turn with 2stage level. The weather is very good, sun and 25 degree celsius.

First run feels ok, made some small change in set-up. 4-5 racers really run fast, setting the standard for the weekend. Tyre choice seems to be 3-4 types with medium compoud.

After driving some times, I feel good about the race and start prepearing for the qualification on saturday. The practice stops at 20:00

    QUALIFYING

Saturday: The weather is cloudy with temperatures aroud 15 to 20 degrees celsius, looks a little bit unstable too.

first qual: Viggo takes the first round, beating me by 2 seconds. We where 3 drivers running fastest laps in 33 sec, Viggo, me and Morten.

second qual: I take the second round, beating Viggo with 2 seconds. This seems to be a really close race.

third qual: It starts to rain and the track seems to loose traction. I switch tires to soft compound and new pattern. This was a good dessision and I take the third round with good distance to Viggo.

Fourth qual: Still raining, not much but wet conditions. Morten takes me by 0.2 seconds on the last lap, just because i was sleeping on the last lap...Viggo ends as nr3.

Fifth qual: This was also a close race, everybody pushed really hard to gain some positions. Not my round, did mistakes. Viggo takes this one, Morten second.

So after the qualification I end up beeing TQ, and really happy with that. Feels good for the semifinal on sunday.

Sunday: It is good to wake up to sun and good weather. This seems to be a fine day.

The lower finals starts, and the track looks alot different then it was on friday with many bumps, so the semi practice will be important to test different tires and get an indication on the fuel consumption.

After the semi practice, I have a good feeling and start preparing for the start.

Semifinal starts and I just increase the lead. Ronny on second and Jan Erik on third. This final went ok, with some mistakes, but ok. I win this semi and Jan Erik on second, Ronny third.

Semi B Viggo takes an easy win.

    THE RACE

The final: I have to start in second position behind Viggo, so this was going to be an interesting start.
The signal goes and we are off. After 3 corners Viggo makes a mistake, and I passed him on the inside. We are batteling all the time and switches the lead a couple of times. Now we have to re-fuel.
9minutes in the final, we are 3 drivers coming in for re-fuel, with Viggo in the lead. Fueling goes fine and we are off again. The leader makes a mistake, and I pass him, now i push as hard as I can and build a comfortable lead. The remaining 25minutes I drive with almost one lap lead and just controlling to the finish.

The lovely C6BB T7 temps at 111degree celsius after 45minutes. I was thinking of refueling at 11 minutes but was unsure, so 9min was safe. Plenty of power and reliable engine.

    CONCLUSION
