QUALIFYING

In round 1 of qualifying Tom Reynolds (HongNor / RB CONCEPT C5BB) set the early pace in heat 5 with 7L 5m14.31, in heat 6 David Crompton (Crono / RB CONCEPT C6BB) just missed out with 7L 5m14.59, so this looked like it was going to be a 1 - 2 for RB until Karl Jackson (Kyosho / Sirio) in heat 7 managed a 7L 5m13.75 giving him TQ for round 1.

Round 2 Dave Bailey (Hobao / RB CONCEPT WS7III) set the pace in heat 5 with a time 7L 5m18.51, in heat 6 Neil Cragg (Hobao / RB CONCEPT WS7III) setting TQ with 7L 5m17.84 with David Crompton in 3rd 7L 19.75 which gave RB the top 3 qualifying times for the 2nd round. Ed Kerry (Hobao / RB CONCEPT WS7III) took 5th position with 7L 5m25.18

Round 3 and the final round of qualifying, David Crompton set the fastest time of the day 7L 5m12.90, 2nd place Jamie Booth (HongNor / OS) 7L 5m20.09 with Neil Cragg in 3rd 7L 5m21.31.

This meant RB CONCEPT had 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th and 8th place grid positions for the main A final.

THE RACE

In the 10 minute warm up before the start of the final, Neil Cragg (Hobao / RB WS7III) starting from 2nd on the grid damaged his car and didnt make the start of the final.

Off the line David Crompton (Crono / RB C6BB) made a clean start with 3rd Karl Jackson and 4th place Jamie Booth colliding on the first corner and letting Tom Reynolds (HongNor / RB C5BB) through into 2nd place. It was close between David and Tom for the first 2 laps until Tom made a mistake, this let Stephen Childerhouse (Mugen / Ninja) move up into 2nd place. David and Stephen raced bumper to bumper for 7 mins when David made a mistake and Stephen got through into the lead. 2 laps later David made a move and got back into the lead. In the mean time Jon Hazelwood (Xray / Recab OS) had moved up to 3rd place and was closing the gap on the two leaders. By lap 19 Jon had moved into 2nd place behind David. This is where the top 3 were to stay for the rest of the race with Jamie Booth (HongNor / OS) in 4th and Tom Raynolds taking 5th place with his RB C5BB.

The track was very hard on the cars with only 8 out of 14 cars finishing.

CONCLUSION

50% of the A finalists used RB Power.
