I'm getting ready to mount up the 523 in the T-Maxx and I also have a very sticky carb slide. I compared it to my C4 and I notice that the control rod on the carb is substantially longer than on the C4, 17MM compared to 10MM from center of slide to end of ball on throttle slide.

This is causing the slide to push to one side in the carb creating a bind. If you pull the carb from the center of the arm it's perfectly smooth, push it on the ball and it binds.

I was going to swap the arm from my C4 but the diameters are different....The C4 carb fits but it's about 3mm taller out of the case so the top o-ring won't seal, so that's not an option.

Does RB have an arm that has a shorter length I can use on this carb.

I believe this is the main problem with these carbs, the short arm would easily clear the front of the carb on the maxx when a control rod is attached.

C4 on left, 523 on right
