I was wondering what the carb slider diameter should be for a normal carb. Mine is sticky as hell probably from the way it was originally installed. It seems to have worn a lot especially on the idle needle where the slider guide rubs on it. I have polished everything to try and make it slide better but it is still sticky so something is worn.
The slide is roughly 8.91mm around the centre and the carb is about 8.99mm where the slide runs

Hmmm, something does not sound right here, what color does your slide have?, this because in the first batches the slide was wearing out when the linkage was not aligned perfectly and since a while they are now made out of heat treated steel.

Rody - the slide is brass (or looks like brass) and the carb body looks like cast Aluminium/alloy. It has definitely worn out due to pressure from the link side of the slide but i wanted to know which part is worn so i can replace either the slide or the carb body. One is hell more expensive than the other
any good Oz web stores to get RB parts from?

This is then one of the first carburetor types we made, for some time now we do not produce this type anymore, it is indeed less expensive to make but also less durable. I am afraid that you have to replace the whole carburetor, maybe there is someone here who can sell you a used one...
For the stores, there are quite a few, have a look around.

The Carburetor of the TM523 has a machined inlet venturi, if you have mixed up the carburetors then there is no harm possible unless you run the engines too lean.
