Most engines take the reading from the glow plug and I didnt see this in the manual and just want to be extra sure about it.
So temps off the plug and run temps should be around 200-230?

I also check my RB323, Traxxas 3.3 & 2.5R temps at the glow plug. This link may help with your question:

Your safe running at around 230F, but you may not be getting optimum power from your engine.

Ok thanx again. I will tune for performance but not exceed 230 deg or there abouts.

If my first attempt at tuning the 523 in my revo yesterday is anything to go by, it needs to run alot hotter than 230 deg F. There was still alot of performance to come from the engine even though it was running at 230.

I am wondering if the body shell is making the engine run hotter than when the shell is off, so I have made a large alteration to the shell to allow alot of cooling.

It is sorted.
What an engine. Wheelie tastic [Smile]
I have removed the center diff from the Revo, it now handles alot differently. But I think most importantly, it allows a better tune of the engine without all the power being wasted to the front wheels when they become unloaded.
Without the center diff and with the 523, the truck is alot more responsive to throttle input.
The truck now handles mich more like a buggy and I found it a real joy to drive, much more slide in the handling, I know pure racers won't like that, but I think it's great.
I'm so impressed with the RB TM523, more than enough power for the 3.3 chassis, I just about had it 80% tuned on 20% nitro. Temps were about 230, but I did not tune on temp, I tuned on performance.

Still more to come, I need a servo that can open the throttle fully, I still have issues with getting that setup correctly.

I just hope this engine lasts as long as people say it will [Smile]

I'm still running 70K front and 50K rear, in my opinion the truck still turns great, you just need to get the throttle input right and it will turn in really nicely.
