hi, i live in a remote area and cannot get to a lhs to ask this question, i purchased the tm323 while in england in june last year, and when i got back to nz its winter so had to wait to run it in,i set it up and turned the carb until i could get close to wot,the run it in. after tuning for preformace it run really well for a couple of tanks then would not acheive full power i adjusted the needles and ran it some more and eventully lost compression and had to get a new piston and sleeve, while installing the new parts i have noticed the slide is very sloppey in the throttle body and some times binds.
(i have filed some burrs off it to get it to open properly) i think i may have tuned it at partial throttle and it has opened to wot and leaned out to lose compression.do you think i should get a new carb befor running it in again?

The carburetor of the TM323 can be opened fully, however if you linkage has not be set coorectly then indeed the carburetor does not open completely.
Now if you have filed something in the carburetor we are not sure if you have don the right thing and so to avoid all suspicion it might be wise to change it for a new one.

As for your piston/sleeve wearing out, are you sure no dust or dirt has gone inside the engine?

thankyou for clearing that up, i think i will replace the carb just to be on the safe side. the linkage is as close as i can get it with out binding any further and the arm with the ball on it comes out of the linkage at full throttle, anyless angle and it binds, ive spent hours trying to get it alighned and carb turned and this is the best i could do. there is a possibility of dust as i ran it in on the gravel road where i live. thanks again brett.

To avoid the ball from coming out of the u groove, is to make this one a little wider and deeper, then the linkage is more loose also.

Take good care of your airfilter if you want your engines to last!
