hi there, is the 323 meant to have a head shim? i am on my second engine now (destroyed first one after hitting a pole directly hitting the head oops)and after pulling the head off new engine discovered there is now shim, both engines have run sweet as with no problems

The sims used in these engines are made out of aluminum and they often stick, so it is very difficult to notice them. Have a closer look and you will see they are there.
