Has anyone drilled out and tapped the tip of their crankshaft? I'm trying to fit a 1/8 clutch setup in my SM and I need the tip drilled and threaded so I can fit the shaft extension.

What you are trying to do here seems impossible to me and I surely cannot suggest you do this.

The tip of the crank is not threaded like most motors and I bought a UE 4 shoe clutch kit, I would like to drill and thread the inside of the crank so I can run an extension screw so that way my clutch will fit. Only thing is, the crank is hardened steel and a regular drill and drill bit will not work, I'll need a drill press and a special bit.

The TM323 is a drop-in designed engine for the REVO or T-Maxx and so not really made for other purpose or other clutch systems, sorry.

You would need a lathe and a carbide drill. Even at that, crank is very hard and threads can no longer be made with a simple tap. Rody is right. Leave it alone. You'll just end up scraping a crankshaft and maybe even putting a drill through some part of your body.
