I am having many problems installing this engine into my revo. My first problem is that i couldnt get the CB and spur to ligh up perfectly. it is only a little off now. but still not perfectly lined up. Another problem i an having is the carb will not close. Even when the engine was out of my truck the carb was a little hard to open and close. Anyone else having these problems or is it only me?

Nope, dropped miine in no problems, your throttle may be a little stiff out of the box cause it not lubricated, but it shudnt be too stiff, as for the CB lining up if you follow the instructions you shud have no problems there unless the CB not fitted properly to the RB shaft beyond that is a matter of adjusting the the engine mount till u get the right snuggness. remember the first screw anchors the mount and the second one is loose till u get the fit you want then you tighten it up.

Rotate the carb a little until it stops binding. That's what fixed it for me. Is the return spring is installed?

I tried to turn the carb i couldnt get it to budge. do you just have to take out the one screw below the carb on the crankcase?

yeh, to remove pull that screw it is quite stiff, but let me undrestand what you are saying if you disconect the throttle from the linkages and pull it open its stiff right ?
And in the same scenario when u let it go it does not close ?

KORN,

It is very important that you get everything in place perfectly before you start playing with the engine.
If after this it still does not work out for you then please ask your LHS or Dealer for advice, this sometimes can avoid you a lot of extra work and frustration

I am not very experienced with nitro engines but what I have seen so far with the carb on the TRX 2.5R and OS18TM is that the carb may not close all the way on its own without the throttle return spring installed. I do not think there is a strong spring in the carb body itself to make sure the carb closes all the way. This is why users install throttle return springs to force the carb closed all the way. As long as you do not feel binding when you close it my hand (without linkages hooked up) I do not think you will have any trouble.

As for not opening all the way this you should be able to fix with roting the carb and adjusting your linkage / throw of your servo. I had to rotate my OS18TM to make it open all the way.

I hope to receive my TM323 this week. LHS has been told the engine will ship to them any day. But this has been the word for 4 weeks.

reecek, I have put a little after run oil in it and now it will open a little smoother. But when its opend it wont close on its own. I have to close but its not hard to close.

klwzscale, I am still using the throttle return spring. But it still isnt closing the carb all the way.

Rody, I think i am gonna take it to my LHS soon. But do you think i should trie to turn the carb a little? or should i just take it to my LHS and let them do it?

Thanks for the help so far everyone

try to rotate the carb before you take it to the LHS, Turning the carb will fix your issue!! Just loosen the pinch bolt and once it is loose tap on the end of your tool to push the pinch bolt out the back a little, now rotate the carb untill you get nice free movement. You also want to stretch out your return spring a little so it isn't so tight becaus ethe RB sits a little further back.

Korn, the carb won't close on its own the return spring will have to do that.
So if its not closing it then I agree with cperalta, loosen your carb and rotate it a bit, that will definately allow you to open fully as well.
And if you are uncertain your LHs is allways a good bet

I tried to take out the screw so i could trie to spin the carb. But the screw head stripped. Now the hex wrench just spins inside the screw head.... I guess i will just take my truck to my LHS and get a new screw and have them loo at it.
