I just installed my new RB323 in my Revo and, unfortunately I installed the EZ-Start system with the one-way bearing in backwards. As long as I had to remove the EZ Start to replace the bearing, I installed a RotoStart with a new one-way bearing in the correct position. Only problem (this time) was I burned out the switch on the RotoStart so next I decided to use a 17 volt high torque Dewalt drill. This time I neglected to set the drill to run counter-clockwise so I replaced the one-way again, reversed the drill to run counter-clockwise, heated the engine to 170 degrees, the carb was at factory settings, I slightly loosened the glo plug, there's a "popping" sound when I lift the gas tank lid and still I couldn’t get the RB323 to start. At times it seemed like it was about to, but didn’t. I removed the RotoStart backplate to check the one-way bearing and it wouldn’t rotate (like all the others).
I stopped at my LHS and bought 4 more one-way bearings and a TRX2.5 pull-start but I’m wondering if everything I did (wrong) could have damaged the shaft....

marctroy,

Since you have difficulties to get your engine started I suggest that in stead of continueing to buy one-way bearings, you just ask your LHS to help you starting the engine for the first time, I am sure this will avoid you a lot of trouble and headache.

Rody,

Thanks for replying. I don't know what was wrong, but I did as you suggested and went back to Bruckner Hobbies in the Bronx, New York with it. Danny Baffer didn't touch it, he just "looked" at it, attached the RotoStart and it started right up the first time. I guess he itimidated it into running! We ran 3 tanks (VERY rich) and I can see that when it's finally leaned-out it'll be a "monster".

Thanks for your advice (and making RBs)....

Happy to hear you have trusted your LHS for this.

I notice that a lot of customers who have problems with their engines and do not ask their LHS for advice and so sometimes they do more harm then good.

Now Enjoy... [Smile]
