Hi I,m Sharky from Spain and I am a new afortunated possessor of the great TM323
I have a few problems with the Running-in Procedure and setup, i need to close the idle/air-screw (open the carb and get a an air-gap of approximately 2mm), because the engine donīt keep running if i take out the ez battery, (always using the factory settings Main-needle (5 turns from closed) and Idle-needle (6 turns from closed). Itīs this normal?
Then when I finish the break motor with the factory settings my engine gets hot near 100šC only from start with out running on the floor, Iīdont know what happend, Iīve been searching for air leaks in the fuel line, tank line, check the fuel cap o-ring, main-needle and idle screws o-rings, and nothings wrong, Does anybody knows what happend?
I use a 20% nitro and a Traxxas 3231 glow plug because the original RB was died in the second tank (I have a McCoy8 too because here we donīt have RB plugs) , MS airfilter.
Thanks a best regards from Spain

The factory settings are there to start with, they are not guarenteed for the good functionning of the engine. It can be that the fuel asks for a different setting...
Anyway, it seems that when you have to have the slide open this much to keep the idle running, then the engine is probably too rich on the low-speed needle setting. Close it more and you will notice that the idle will stay high when to have cleaned out the engine. The lower the idle by unsrewing the air-screw od the slide.
If the engine gets too hot, then open more the main-needle.
If this all does not work out for you, I suggest to ask your LHS or Dealer from who you have purchased the engine from for additional advice. This sometimes is much faster then us trying to see what your are doing wrong.
In the engine manual I canīt find a specific instructions on setting the aperure gap to the minimun size, do you have a correct or standar meassure for the air-gap?
I think this is very important to dialing the engine and have the idle-speed properly adjusted and then adjust the low-end mixture.
If I cleaned ot the engine and start with the factory settings always need to close the idle air-screw too much to keep the idle running.
I have change the traxxas glow plug to a McCoy 8 and have the same results.
Some frinds of mine told me that if i use a 25% nitro probably go better...

Hi again Rody, Iīve been working with my LHS for a week and we have he same problems. (
We have used a 20% and 25% nitro, 2 differents glow plugs (traxxas and Mc coy8), 2 differents air filters and with the factory settings (Main-needle 5 turns from closed, and Idle-needle 6 turns from closed) and open the air gap about 2,5 mm (as you can see in the pic) the engine start but if we change a little bit the Idle-needle to lower the idle the engine stoped.
We donīt know what is the problem, this engine only have 5 tanks in the factory settings conditions but is to dificult to setup correctly, and with the factory setting the engine donīt have the power that all people are speaking...
I donīt know if the problems are with the glow plug, can you tell me a compatible glow plug to test the engine a little more?
What can i Do?
Please i need help to find what happend, this engine looks fine a great but is impossible for us setup correctly to run.
