Obviously the Traxxas Tmaxx and Revo have affected the industry heavily, as shown by all the manufacturers making drop in motors for them.
I race monster trucks, have for years, and it's always been known that big block engines are just too much for the shorter wheelbase trucks.
A smallblock is what is best for racing on these smaller monster trucks.
To date, only one other company has stepped up with a decent smallblock offering. All the other companies are making big block conversion and or drop in big blocks that for racing have too much torque and weight.
I know if RB made a hot 5 or 7 port 18 in non-pullstart and pullstart versions, that myself, and everyone else I know that does NOT like the other company making a decent 18, would buy one in a second!
There has been a huge gaper hole in the engine market for a good running Nova based smallblock for the Traxxas trucks.
RB could clean up here. Is there an 18 in RB's future? Maybe a 19? NO BIGGER though!
There's no "23 size discussion" so I decided to post here. I hope it's OK.

Naw those are too much, plus they're big blocks.
Something right in between size wise, in a smallblock case, that breathes fire!

We found the TM323 the better compromise after testing also the .18(or more) possible versions. There is just more power available and when trying a .18 the end-result is not as good as the just released TM323.

At least here in the states, the smallblock engine limit for racing is 18. Any larger and you have to run in Unlimited.
I KNOW a LOT of people would buy a hot italian 18 for their smallblock Maxxes and Revos for racing. None of those guys wants to run against the truggies, they are just outgunned no matter what size motor they have.
The one or two Tmaxxes and Revos I did see that were impressive on the track were running the TZ18, and for racing, a smallblock is unquestionably better.
I understand as a company you must take other issues into consideration, like sales and backyard bashers, I just know RB could be on top of the MT ladder too if they made a hot smallblock for the Revo and Tmaxx.
It's been years now, and there are only TWO good racing smallbock motors for these trucks, both by the same company, THAT is a gap that needs to be filled in my opinion.
