01900-123-05 failed on my 928 1.5 tanks into break in. anyone else have this little guy snap? Engine mod. friend of mine took a dremil bit shaft, turned it down and fixed the motor with that. But still not cool having it snap. put all kinds of metal in the block but it is fixed and happy with-out any other issues.

The material of this pin is very hard and to be able to snap it you really need to have forced a lot or the engine must have had a very violant backfire.
Have not heard about this issue before.

However the dremel bit shaft you have replaced it with is less strong then the original pin used and so if you will force too much or the engine has too much fuel inside, then this problem can arrise again.

The dremil bit shaft is chrome molly steel so it should be harder than that pin. As for how it snapped not sure got some of it on video. The other thing is I don't know how hard that metal is but it got wedged between the block and the crank with out damage to either. It did have a couple backfires. To crank a fresh motor I always crack the plug to release any excess pressure. To be honest with you before and after the pin snapped this motor was and is the easiest thing I have ever started. One bump and it would fire up. Not once have I had it Hydra lock. The idle is the smoothest I have had and one of the lowest.

Untill now we did not encounter the little pin breaking, when we made the first tests a few years ago we broke the crankpin but this happened because there was not enough play in the starting system. Since then we have not encountered this.

Of course when something brakes inside the engine then the result is always destructive.
