What exactly will a carb restrictor do? I understand that it will take power away from the engine, but will it improve run time? I am thinking about going to a 7.0 or 7.5 restrictor. Would the power loss be substantial? If so will it be made up by run time? I have seen a 928 with a 7.0 restrictor run down a Picco .27, that was pretty impressive. The 928 has almost uncontrollable power for my Jammin Crt.

Yes, a restrictor will improve the run-time but also changes a little the engine behaviour and of course the smaller you go the less power you will have at your disposal. By doing this it can still be our engine runs great, it all depends how far you go.

What would be a good choice to get better fuel economy but not sacrifice too much on the power end. Also by doing this it will not make the tune hard to maintain? We will be running 30 min mains and if I can cut out a refueling or 2 that will help considerably. The track we run on is a med. track. Thank You!

The only way to find out is to try. Tunning will be a little different so be carefull.
I cannot really tell you more because everybody has its own interpretations on these things and so the best thing is you just try and make your own conclusions. This is also a part of racing...
