I am looking for a really powerful motor for my Savage. It is pretty modded all except for the motor. I am really interested in putting on the TM928, instead of the TM728 Becuase of the top end power. I know the TM728 will fit, but what would it take for me to fit the TM928? I have heard it wont fit becuase it doesn't have a pull start. What about a Roto-start? Are there any options? Is the TM928 more powerful then the TM728?
Thanks
Jeff

A RotoStart compatible backplate for the TM728 and TM928 is under development and should be released soon.

What does the TM928 currently use for a start method? Wont fit to a Savage? And any estimate as to when the Roto-start will be in production?
Thanks for the help!!

the 928 uses a starter box as its starting method. so it wont fit into a savage untill the starter is in production. to be honest mate why not get a TM728, this has got a pull starter already and when the rotostart conversion comes out u can get that.

Well, I might end up doing that. But heard the 928 has a little more power, especially in the top end. More of a racers engine?

ive just dumped a 728 into my savage, admitedly ime still running her in but i can see it really pushing the sav. along. the 928 is just too much power for the sav. to handle. it can just about cope with .28's in general. people have put the O.s 30 in but it struggles (i.e diffs blow alot faster) and the collari .32

I have a 728 in my savage and i'm on my second blown diff. I even upgraded it to 4 gears instead of the standard 2. 728 is powerful enough. just need to bullet proof the diffs.

i also have the tm728 (with roto-start) with thg2 pipe/92 mm manifold in my ext tvp savage, and it's alot faster than the stock engine. but i always want more, i'm thinking of the tm928 or the rt28.

Upgrade your diffs. So I don't rip apart my diffs I run a little rich and feather the gas.

I run a 47/20 ratio and the high speed 3 rd gear. It will pull wheelies in 3rd gear. AT stock needle settings I was 47 MPH constantly and FAT. I run O'Donnells 30% with .6mm in shims (2x.3mm stock). I didn't add the .1mm shim do to I wanted to keep the deck hight. All the .1mm does is raise deck hight and the temps and loose some compression.
