Hello fellow RC owners !

My brother and I have a nice bashing location on hard packed dirt/sand/grass around the corner. There is a loooooooong straight where you could go for sure for about at least 10 seconds full throttle.

I heard somewhere that motors are not designed for long runs of WOT (wide open throttle). Is that true?

My last race with my bro was, that we just raced forth and back that long straight. It was fun, but I dont know if it will damage our engines...

You can see underground of that long straight in the following video at 2:49 min.

Thanks

If the carburetor setting is not too lean and the engine is not making too much rpm there should not be a real problem.

With a load applied, and proper needle settings, extended periods of WOT are just fine. Model aircraft engines run at WOT all the time for full tanks, and they are basically the same engines with smaller heads.
Most track's straights aren't long enough for 10 seconds of WOT, so your HSN settings might need to be a bit richer than most people's to keep the temps down.
