I am curious to see if they have implemented a saftey feature to prevent engine damage. It looks to be pretty thick,,I wonder if there will be clearance issuse with some models

with the LST why not mod its electric start adapter to work on the 28? its just slightly smaller so if you put a notch on each corner of it with some washers and screws shuld hold it into place.. the biggest question is you will need to reuse the hex shaft and if it is long enough or build a plastic hex shim to fit around the rb hex to fit snuggly into the hex on the start unit.. actually im workign too hard..
from my understanding aka few other posts on this forum, the thunder tiger pull start/electric start will fit the 28 from a mgt.. and if thats the case the drill start from shum menace will fit since its also the same 21tt engine..

test fit.. best thing i can say.. take the stock LST start plate off the mach and line it up with the rb28 see what you have to do to line it up with the holes. then the HEX in them will need to be modified to work.. the rb is a smaller hex then the mach, but the shaft on both slide out look to see the differance on the lengths of the shaft, you may only have to change it, if they are not the same length you will have to make a shim to make the rb hex as big as the mach hex.
else the starter set up from the mgt is supposed to fit, but i have not ever tried it cause i do not have one.

Oh ok, the backplate from the stock LST motor is WAY too big to fit. I will look into the MGT starter thing, I know a guy who has one...

no.. wait.. your right the lst has a bigger back plate.. now rethink this.. bigger is better cause all you have to do is drill 4 new holes in it.. being plastic will be simple.. the main trick is th estart shaft hex.. thats what needs looked at.. i actually own a spare start shaft for the mach/wasp/picco/dynimite/xtm its like 3$, ill sit down with my spare 28 and see what can be done.. aka shaft size compairison, to see if it will work.. if it will then it even more simple.. i also have a spare back plate for the LST as i sold the mach i got with it when it was new... shooot me a PM tomarrow... if i can get it worked out i may sell it pre modded cause i have no use for it.. i do not like electric start.. like pull start more..

well for a LST not a savage.. now the bad news.. the back plate its self needs machined down, the step in it is too tall, if it was shorter like 3mm off the back plate instead of the almost 1/2" that it is you could use the hexto fit the lst star plate and drill 4 new holes in it.. but i cannot see myself machining down the back plate to make it work.. this step unless you shim the said start plate up will not even touch the back plate if the original hex was shimmed up..
the up side.. if a shim was made from plastic that made up for this shoulder of the back plate, then a 1mm shim wrapped around the stock hex it could be done pretty easily..
let me know what you find on the start system from a mgt.. its something thats never been confirmed but has been spoken about a few times..
So what youre saying is that the start hex for the .28 is too far back in the motor for the Mach backplate to fit?

im saying the stock back plate has a big piece of aluminum as a shim to help prevent the hex shaft from wobbling in the back plate/1 way bearing. actually its a good thing.. just makes adapting things to fit the engine difficult..
