I noticed on this forum that a lot of good experienced people are around and want to take this opportinity to thank them helping the others who are not or less familiar with these high performance model racing engines.

Hi, Rody,

I do thank u for putting a forum to ur site. I learned a lot here on just reading comments from another racer. In my experience in a lot of motors including RB's. There are some differences in every signle motor even if they are in the same cc, brand, turbo/ non turbo. All I am pointing out is (not to offend u) the setting on the .12 and .15 motor that u have on your site. The day I got my RB x 12 t 230. I followed the setting and my engine temp went to 290f. Also, same thing happened in my x 12t 310. For some reason its the .12 that is having problem. Because I bought the C3 all the way to C5,modified collari c4 , and modified Rody C5 and I never had problems on this motor. Its just the . 12 setting on ur site that makes me kind of disappointed. Hope u understand from a point of view of an Rb supporter.

thanks
Snake

Rody , the R/B forum is the best by far in my opinion!!!!!!!
the info loads fast enough the people are great at helping and no slamming one another.
Every time I come I learn something more about this great hobby!!

My son just got a cigarette style glass boat approx. 3 feet given to him by his uncle.
it has an OPS engine in it know.
Does R/B make a marine engine?
I sould have looked but figured I would add that while I was bragging on the R/B Forum.

Thanks and dont change a thing around here.

Snake,
Yes, you are right, there are indeed differences between the engines(even small), even from the same brand and contents, we also noticed that the .12 engines(like the .21 buggy engines and the .15 EFRA/ROAR engines) run hotter compared to the .21 gas engines, this is something we cannot really change and we will have to do with this. All I can say is try to avoid running the engines higher then 260F.

macman,
We only have 1 marine engine in our program and it is .21 size.

We will try to keep this forum as it is now, thanks for participating... [Smile]

I have question. Why hasn't anyone start using copper type material for the cooling head?

No, not for the board. I just want to know how come copper isn't being used for the cooling head. Is there a specific reason? I mean copper is a great material for heat transfer

Indeed, however it is way too heavy...

What if only the glow plug button was made of copper, and the rest of the head sink was aluminum? Wouldn't this still help transfer heat?

It would make the engine heavier(even if it seems little) and this is not what we want.
It also will not make the engine faster in my point of view.

I just have to say that, this site has provided me with so much info in the way of intelligent comment and topic that it has made my running of my WS7 a whole lot easier, cos knowing that there are decent people with various amounts of experience who are willing to give intelligent replies makes for one decent forum! Keep it up [smoking joe]

I think the concept of copper included in a heat sink would be very benifical to the heat dissipation of the engine.Take a look into CPU's they get so hot that regular aluminum heatsinks are now wothless and they need at least a copper insert to cool them effecttivly. Now it would probably weight a little more and cost a little more but I think the pay off would be well worth it in my opinion and take a look at the designs of heatsinks for engines there almost all the same but take a look at cpu's and there is quite a differnce. Some are better then the others. But what makes a good product is having the gutts to experiment with new concepts and hope that it does good and that others will follow right?no offense to be taken of course about this just my opinion thats all.

look how advance rb's engines are, hence if copper was better you think it would be used by at least one high HP engine manufacturer. plus copper retains heat as good as it draws heat.
