HAD ENGINE ONLY A SHORT TIME ONLY JUST RAN IN FOUND IT HARD TO KEEP A STABLE TEMP ONCE ENGINE REACHES ABOUT 220 .IF U RUN TRUCK TO ANY KIND OF DESIREABLE SPEEDS THE NEEDLE WILL NEED SEVERAL ADJUSTMENTS AT TOP BACK OUT ( RICH) IN ORDER TO MANAGE TEMPS BUT THE LONGER YOU USE THE TRUCK THE LESS HELPFUL RICHENING THE TOP BECOMES. NOW ITS RUN IN I LOOSE OUTLET PRESSURE AND LOOSE FUEL FEED TO CARB, INTERMITANT.I HAVE CHECKED HEAD BOLTS AND ARE TIGHT AS CAN BE. FUEL SPITTING OFF FLY WHEEL WHEN PULL PULL START . IVE MARTICULOUSELY CLEANED PIPE, LINES REPLACED AND CLEANED FUEL TANK IN AND OUT CHECKING LINES FOR PRESSURE LEAKS. CHANGED PLUG AND RESET CARB TO FACTORY SETTINGS 2 TIMES WITH NO OTHER RESULTS. I MUST SAY THE ENGINE HAS VERY IMPRESSIVE SPEED AND I DONT EVEN NEED THE CARB OPEN FULLY AND STILL PASS SAVAGE X'S AND SUCH WITH EASE BEAUTIFUL BIT OF MACHINEREY. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS HIGH END MACHINEREY WORK DONE ON THESE ENGINES AND RESPECTFULLY APPRECIATE THIS. I DO FEEL THAT THEY ARE SUCH FINE TOLERANCES AND NOT EVERY ENGINE CAN BE 100% PERFECT 100% OF TIME. I CLEANED THE ENGINE AND TOOK IT OUT , TOOK THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY OFF LAST NIGHT AND FOUND IF I LIFT AND THEN PUSH DOWN ON THE MAIN CRANK SHAFT YOU CAN FELL A BIT OF MOVEMENT AS IT LIFTS AND LANDS ONTO THE BEARING EVER SO SLIGHTLY, CANT SEE THE MOVEMENT ONLY FEEL IT. I WOULD LIKE ANY HELPFUL INFORMATION ON MY SITUATION . THINGS I COULD TRY AND BEST COURSE OF ACTION. COULD THE SLIDE CARB GATOR POSSIBLY BE LEAKING FUEL AND VENTING AIR IN ? LEAKING FUEL DOWN ONTO THE MAIN BEARING AND IS THE MAIN BEARING MEANT TO HAVE A SLIGHT BIT OF MOVEMNT WHEN COLD AS I DO UNDERSTAND THERES NO PISTON RINGS IN THE ENGINE AND RELIES ON HEAT EXPANSION FOR COMPRESSION TO PERFORM PROPERLY. P.S I RAN ENGINE IN CARFULLY AND SLOWLY USED MORE REVS OVER THE TIME IT TOOK TO CONSUME 3 LTRES OF FUEL. CHECKING TEMPS ON OCCASION TO ENSURE I HAD NO EXCESSIVE TEMPS.

The engines can change their tune especially if its temperature changes due to more or less effort its needs to make. If fuel comes out of the front-bearing when you start it then your engine is a little flooded and the exsessive fuel can escape in this area.
As for the play in the bearings, there needs to be some for the right functionning, however if you are not sure about all this then I suggest you ask your LHS for advice and eventually show this to him.
