Well i took my new RB c6 engine out today to run it in , i did 4 tanks at idle and then a few tanks up and down the revs but i noticed there wasnt much smoke coming out of the exhaust, now when i recieved the engine the hsn was set at 5 turns out from closed , but in the manual it says factory settings are 3.5 turns out from closed so i tried running it at 3.5 turns and there wasnt much smoke coming out at all, so i turned it out to what it was when i recieved it (5 turns out) and there still wasnt that much smoke coming out. so im a little confused as i am running the engine very rich but with not a lot off smoke coming out..... am i missing something here? it has a eureaka pipe on it.and i am running 25% byron fuel.
i wanted to start to tune the engine but was worried about leaning it out as there wasnt that much smoke to start off with running it with the rich settings, so i didnt for the time being.
Thanks for any advice, Dan

The factory settings we give are a place to start with, they are not the settings you will forceably finish with. If there is not a lot of smoke this does not mean the engine is not rich, can be the engine is running so rich that the smoke is not coming due to the low running temperature of your engine... Have you measured the temperature of your engine?
