Could this be a good idea to decrease the stress on the rod, crankpin etc?

Yes, this could help but is not really needed also. What stresses the engine the most is its first start especially when they are cold.

It is suggested to pre-heat your engine just before your start it, this helps.

There are some topics about this on this forum, so we suggest you use the search option of this forum to find them...

Rody, what temp do you try to get the engine to by pre-heating before starting?

50-70°C should be sufficient.

You also want to get the heat into the engine quickly!
What's happening is the sleeve gets hot and expands, but the piston doesn't, and this loosens things up, and reduces stress and wear, durin break in, but i also preheat later on in the engine's life.
I preheat religiously, every time, always, continuously, no matter what, forever!
After break in, the only wear the piston and sleeve goes through is from cold starts, where there's no lubricating oil, and everything is super tight.
Preheating makes my engines start super easy also.
It does make break in take a bit longer, but it's well worth it.

"How are you preheating?"

I lean over next to mine and whisper, "you're one sexy motor" ;-)

No need to add extra shims when breaking in the engine, unless you are using more then 25% nitro.

Bob,

I use 30% exclusively in my S7ii from the very beginning. I would recommend adding one 0.1 shim.
