I just recieved my C-4 last week and I want to know if there are any special instructions for breaking-in the engine on a test stand. I have heard breaking-in on a test stand, if done properly, is better for the engine. is this just a myth?

Thanks

My opinion is that is a not good idea to run-in the engine on a test stand...

because the engine becomes less stressed as you drive it on a track!

Question!

Who should looks your test stand?

Because the experts use in real for a test stand
a special computer-program...and special tools
which simulate the real circumstances you have in a race. [Wink]

Best regards

depa

Told us more about your test stand, please... [Big Grin]

What i am talking about is an engine break-in stand. it is a stand that you use to break in engines with a airplane prop. here is a picture

alot of on serpent guys use them and say the results are impressive.

Running-in the engine on a stand like you are showing above can be a solution however the engine will run cooler then normal and also never reach the same rpm you are getting in the car, so you have to finish the running-in on the car, in this way the engine will get used to the higher temperatures.

Another thing, be very carefull with the propellor...

Thanks for the reply Rody, The reason i wanted to break-in the engine on the test stand is b/c i live in the northeast ( of USA) and breaking the motor in, in the truck can be difficult this time of year. Do you have prefered method of breaking in the engine "in car"?

How are the "prerun" RB engines run in?

thanks for the help.

The preffered method of running-in the engine in the car is described in our instructions which we supply with the engine.

Our pré-run engines have been run on our bench in a special way, in fact the engines are treated in the same way as we run-in our team-engines.

I've been thinking of getting a breakin stand as well.

What differences should I do using it, instead of in the buggy? And at what point do I need to put it into the buggy to finish the breakin?
