DearRB,

I just purchased a RB X12T....I have about 10 tanks on it an on my way to leaning it out...Then comes my temp gun, a friend of mine told me that operating tem should be about 220 F...I was trying to reach that temp when I realized that my gun was set to "Centigrade" =( ...To cut the story short while I was running it I think it stalled due to being to lean =( it was really very very hot....it was about 310+ F aparently...but all this time there was sign of smoke on the exhaust....

When I realized my folly...I let it cool down treated it with after run oil...I turned my Flywheel and I can still feel some pinch...

I ran it starting out very rich again...this time with my temp gun on degrees Farenheit...I seems to run fine It idles fine reached about 212F and let it rest...

My question is...do you think I would need to replace anything...Having done what I did what kind of damage would I have done? I don't really feel like doing a tear down....I took the manifold off and peaked at the piston....I dont see evident scars on the piston/ or the liner from that vantage point....I really feel bad, actually stupid for what I did..

If I need to tear it down, so be it...I just want to know I after what happened I can still count on the engine to be 100%. I would like to continue trying to tune it if its already badly damaged...I'd much rather replace what I needs to be replaced and start over if need be.

I hope you can shed some light...

Thanks

RBFAN

Overheating the engine just one time is not that big a deal. Try not to let it happen again because it will shorten the engines life. Another danger in overheating is breaking the glowplugs wire. This can do a lot of damage inside de engine.
