While we on the topic of running in, I'll like to share some information which I've found in a Taiwan web site ( This info is causing some disagreement between some of our members as some are following their recommendations and running in their engines at 150C + ).

It is been suggested that the Temperature Probe should only be used as a rough guildline for engine tuning and also that the recommended temperature range to run an engine is 120C to 160C. I would like to know if it is true.

The web also sited an example that he had tuned an engine before that showed very sluggish acceleration even when the temperature was 130C and he could only get the engine run smoothly when he got the Temperature to 160C, hence his recommended range.

During the running-in periode, we suggest not to exceed 100°C, if after the running in your engine runs the best at temperatures like 130-140°C I think this is not really a problem, as long as the engine keeps its power and does not loose power during the complete fuel-tank.

Rody as you said the RB engines runs the best at 130-140 and I believe this are measured in Celcius right? When I convert it to Fahrenheit, it will be around 266F-284F, and it sounds a little hot too me!! Does this apply to the World S7 too??

Yes, your conversion is correct.
Now concerning the temperatures, these are only as indication, the problem with these engines is that it is very hard to see if the carburetor is set right, now most of the people use the temperature as an indication for the setting, this is O.K. with us but it can vary from engine to engine and from fuel to fuel like from outside temp. to outside temp.

We know that the buggy engines sometimes can go to 150°C but we ourselves cannot tell this to everybody because sometimes we have a same type of engine giving their best performances at 110°C, so I hope you can understand that we cannot give this as a real measure but only as an indication.

Now if you find the engine to hot, and it runs better cooler the we suggest of course to run it cooler.
