Rody, I'm hoping you can give me a starting point for my new R3. The altitude I race at is a little over 5000ft/1.5k. Humidity is normally low at 70% or so. Temps 80-90F.I normally run 30%nitro, but I was considering going to 20% for this engine.
I know you normally add .1mm shim for each 5% of nitro over 16%. But, I think my altitude may change this equation.
If you could give me a strarting point for head shims, and plug for 30% and 20% it would be appreciated.

If you are running 30% nitro at an altitude of 5000ft then you can leave the engine with its original qty of head-shims. However if you race the same engine at sealevel then you should not forget to add 1 shim of 0.2mm.
You could try at sealevel to add only 1 shim of 0.1mm but then I suggest you check the glowplug immediately after your run to see if everything is O.K.

Thanks Rody. Your personal service is the reason I bought RB.
I'm considering going back to 20% nitro. Would I need to lower head clearance if I do so?

Once you have used 30% in an engine and you go back you will have the impression the engine does not perform very well anymore, so be carefull with the settings and try not to overdo it then.
At sealevel, no need to change anything, at 5000ft, you could take out(lower) 0.1mm.
