Hi!

I Broken-in my motor with 30% nitro but didn't add the suggested .1mm head shim to compensate for the higher nitro content ... I measured the current tdc piston-head clearance at .024"

The motor seems to be running fine after 8 tanks (200-210F), should I really consider adding .1mm head shim or it's more like it'd be a safer way to run the motor but not a must?

There are some gold-brownish deposits on the piston and head ... could it be related to the head clearance being too small or just too rich carb settings?

My motor is a V12 01700-000410

Thanks.

Steve.

If your engine is running fine, then no real need to change but it is always safer to add the extra shim when using 30% nitro.

The gold-brownish deposit is the oil which burns and depends on the brand of fuel you use and is in general a good sign.

I'm using the Spektrum telemetry system and wonder if the RPM I'm getting are realistic ...

idle: 6500-6800RPM
max rpm: 34000-37000RPM
