I have an RB engine which appears physically a bit different in terms of the casing colour.

In your product page the .12 Rody 5 port has a dark grey crankcase but on mine it does not have that colour but just a plain aluminium. However the cooling head does have the word Rody RB Concept on it.

The reason I am asking is that I am going to replace the piston, sleeve and rod for it and if I buy the 01700-0365R kit and find out my engine is not a Rody then it'll be a waste.

How can I be sure of what RB .12 engine do I have?Appreciate your guidance.

The colors on your screen can differ from the engine, however when it is grey on the screen it is just plain aluminium.

Can you find a serial number on the side of the engine mounts?, if yes please let us know, otherwise then send a picture of your engine.

Hi Rody

I have taken a look at the side of the engine mount to locate the serial number and found these numbers engraved 0311798.

Hope you could confirm if it is indeed a V12 5 Port Rody model to facilitate my replacement kit purchase.

I checked our database and cannot find your engine.

Now to find out what engine you have, please let me know:
1) qty of ports in the liner?
2) Is the crankshaft modified?
3) turbo or normal glowplug?
4) diameter of the carburetor?

hmmm.......weird.

No wonder the engraving looked dodgy, The numbers looked like they were engraved by hand using a sharp tool.

To answer your questions.

1. 5 port
2. It looks like the one 01700-00515 has.
3. It is running a 6 turbo plug
4. The carburator came without a venturi and it is measuring 13mm inner diameter.

Hope that helps

I am concerned that the serial number is not in your database.

After reading and checking I am sure your engine is part#01700-000515 and have updated the database.

Hope this has helped you further.

spent the whole day yesterday tuning the engine after reading the forummers experience I managed to get it to idle and run, finally.

Looks like my LHS is not equiped with the RB's knowledge at all and the RB parts he carries is costing an arm and leg .......plus an ear. Parts availability will be a problem for me and other RB owners due to the LHS discontinuing in providing RB parts as the demand is very low due to it's pricing.Could the high pricing of RB product is due to the inflated prices by the local dealers?I was quoted 650 Singapore dollar for a new 01700-0515.

Hoping to have more run time with the engine from now on. The engine broke my front belt after getting it to scream on the tracks,Bliss!

Could a Nova's turbo plug six be compatible to my engine?

Who is your LHS?

As for the glowplugs, we suggest always to use original RB Concept engine glowplugs with our engines. Nova glowplugs are complatible and you need to find out if this works well with your engine or not.

The LHS around my area is not your authorised dealer as they are not listed in your international delaership and my guess is that they import on their own or get their supplies from somewhere, HPC modelsports Malaysia.

I am running an S7 for my MBX5 and deciding if I should get an RB for my GS SUT Truggy also but if part availability is an issue I dont think it is a wise choice.

Do advice if there is an appointed RB dealer in Malaysia.

I have succesfully installed and run a Nova 6 turbo plug as I cant get hold of an RB unit.

Yeah, I have contqcted Marion of Hobbylink in Singapore and they were the one who quoted me S650 for the v12 5 port Rody.

I guess I just have to bear with the distance in getting my RB parts as Singapore is quite far away from me.

Thanks Rody

My V12 Rody edition did a kamikaze today. Con-rod protruding out from the body. The end of the road for my v12.

Will have to go the LL5 route now due to unavoidable circumstances like availability and pricing.
