Hi,

What's the difference between these 2 engines? Which one will give more power/performance? I know that #1700-00445 is EFRA/ROAR legal and #1700-000425 is ROAR/IFMAR legal, since EFRA is more strict/rule on the engine, does this mean #1700-000425 is a little faster than #1700-000445? Thank you.

Thank you Rody.

By the way, I heard from someone that he has a RB Rody "special team engine". Is there such a thing as "special team engine"?

What is referred to the special team-engines are probably the engines which we check and pré-run in the factory. These engines we use for the bigger races like EC and WC, however they come from the normal production.

Are there any differences (parts, performance) at all between pre-production and current production engine? Thank you.

The 425 is a little more powerfull than the 445, so where the 435 will stand power wise?

The 435 is discontinued but has the same performances as the 445, the difference is the carburetor which is aluminum type on the 435

What is the advantage and disadvantage in the materials of the carburator(aluminum, nylon)?

If the engine overheats(which is quite possible for the .12 engines) and you use an aluminum carburetor then vaporlock can make it very difficult for your engine to get started again. You need to let it cool down which sometimes in a race is not really possible.

Can I make the 435 to a 425? Or are there too many diferences(beside the carburator)? Where are the difference(the crank case, crank shaft, piston and sleve)?

You only need to change the carburetor and the engine is like the 425

So that means that the cuts on the sleve and in the shaft are the same for both? Thanks for the info.

Is there any internal difference on the crankcase of a regular V 12 engine (430,400,420) and a Rody Modify engine (425,435,445)?

Check out the exploded views and their related par#'s, if the part# is different then the crankcase is different too.

May I ask, why is the piston and sleve 1700-037 so expensive? Is there any difference in materials between the regular one and the modify one or is just the work done to it? Thanks for your time.

Yes, we use a different material for this which is quite expensive at our supplier.

Dear Rody,

I am about to rebuild my V12 Rody 425. Can I use #1700-036R set in my Rody 425? What are the differences between #1700-037R & #1700-036R? Are their any performance difference? Thank you.

Yes, you can interchange these parts, the difference between these 2 piston/liner sets are the pistons, one is machined out of solid aluminum and the other is casted. Both are equal in performance, we did not find a lot of difference in performances.

So, #1700-037R has micro casted piston and #1700-036R is CNC piston correct? Thanks Rody.
