Is it possible to replace the Turbo button head on a V12 0430 version with the non turbo button head from the V12 0410 version? Or are there timing & porting differences that need to be addressed as well to make such a conversion?

Yes, you can interchange the buttons(combustion chambers) without any problems.

Thanks Rody! I seem to find the turbo plugs don't last very long. One day of racing & they are toast. I was using Rex 7F plugs but only was able to get 1/2 day of running. Now I'm using HPI #7 and they last longer but still not very good. Running 30% nitro & 6mm of head shim.

The lasting of the glowplugs is releated to the wire you use and not if it is turbo or normal. You could try and use a colder glowplug or décompress a little more your engine if you want things to last longer.

However please tell how much shims you use, sincs 0.6mm seems too much to me.

I'm using Your V12 0430 engine. It comes from the factory with .3mm of head shim for 16% nitro. You suggest adding .1mm of shim for each 5% increase in nitro. So I added .3mm of shim. for 30% nitro.
As for needle settings, your .12 carb settings faq suggests 2.5 turns out on the low needle and 5 turns out on the high needle as a good start point. My current needle settings are 2 turns out on the low end & 4 1/8 turns out on the high.
This is the max I can get because the engine is very hot. Comes out of a 20 min main at about 270 deg F or 132 deg C. This is about 20 deg F or 11 deg C hotter than I would like it to get.

Be carefull with your temp. readings, there are many devices on the market now and they all read differently...

I suggest you try and run the engine a little richer on the HSN so the temps should drop a little.

Thanks Rody! Your assistance is very much appreciated. I will try a colder plug also. BTW this engine has netted me a 3rd place finish in our A main this past week end. It's also worthy of note because we run a completely open nitro class & it was up against not just other .12 motors but also .15 and .18 engines as well as some professionally modified motors. A very good result indeed.

If you are running in an open class, then check out also the following engines, they are the same size block as our V12 engines...
