it is time for a rebuild in my RB,(ran it a little hot,on accident my 10 year old learnng how to tune) i had about 1 1/2 gallons through it. now are .12 as tough on rods as .21? the rod clearance was still good, no movement on the wrist pin and snug on the crank. i am getting a new p/s tomorrow for it, do you think i NEED a new rod also with this low amound of fuel run through it, being it will have to go through two break-ins. thanks

Rody strange thing. after adressing my p/s and rod issue i got to looking at it again, reinspecting. i could push the piston alittle pst the top of the sleeve,(usually a worn p/s) but when i put the head back on it had good compression. so i raced it all day sat and never missed a beat, still runs great, with good compression with head on and stock shims, man you have good engines.

Good compression is realated to the correct fit between the piston/sleeve. When you push manually the piston in the sleevn you go untill the piston toutches the sleeve which is not the same thing for me.
Indeed for many persons this is the way to expertise the engine but sometimes as you see a so called worn piston/sleeve is not worn at all.
