I’m running for more than 2 years, and I’m still looking for the right engine, 6 months ago a friend started competing with an exotic orange engine for us (the RB) immediately we got amaze by the performance, tuning (incredible) and durability,
In my city, the track has several curves, and just a small straight line, the curves are or to extreme (180° angles, where you almost stop the car) or high speed curves due to the length. So what I definitely need is a lot of acceleration and handling from the engine.
The track grip is not very good because is pavement and the temperature is about 86° F.
We all use mugen; I have one mtx-3 prospect
Now that I finally found the right racing engine (RB) that goes with my budget, I don’t know which one of the V12 fit better my necessities, a 3 or 5 ports?, normal or turbo plug?.

Yeah he's right. I found out where I run at, it's basically run what you bring. It's FLoyd Bennett Field. Get more info and then make your decision from there. BTW, what tires have you tried on your track? Is there traction additive or was it suger-watered? Dusty or clean? I run on pavement and it's superb.

Well, Rody I don’t really know what to answer you; in my country (Colombia) we are not so strict with the rules, and I believe they may differ from the American. Of course we don’t allow anything “outlaw”.
Which kind of rules you are talking about?
Rcfanatic, I run with HPI 33R tires, the grip is great. Talking about the track…, it’s bumpy and dusty (we use a “leaf blower” to clean it, but it really doesn’t help too much).
Can you tell me the Floyd Bennett field web site?
Yesterday, I saw an mtx-3 with an RB V12 3 ports normal plug, taking it to the limit in the track for several laps, I definitely want an RB, but may be a 5 port turbo plug wont hurt, I’m concern about the handling, and knowing if in this kind of track you get an advantage.

Some of the guys usually sweep the track and use a leaf blower. Though most of the time mother nature takes care of the track for us. A nice shower, some high wind, and dries everything with the sun. Pretty much everyone uses foams since they hook up best and the the lot is quite smooth. Hardly any bumps. Try to get a crew of sweepers with those big push brooms to clean up the track a bit. That or a team of leaf blowers and blast everything into the corners. Also get some old sodas and spray down the track with it. That will boost traction. My track doesn't have a permenent website for itself, but the hobby stores that goes there has pictures from their experience. I live in the US though.
Regarding the engine, anything legal must be .12 3 port non turbo. Anything with more than 3 ports and having a turbo plug is not legal. If you have a crankshaft with that turbo scoop though that is fine. I'm always more concern about the handling of my vehicle as opposed to the power. My vehicle must be dialed in first and I have to post some fast lap times with the current engine. Only when I feel the need for more speed will I get a new engine. I would go with an RB V12 if you want something pretty strong and reliable. It's got great mid and top end speed. Set up your clutch properly, get the right pipe and away you go.

magoo, If you do not know which rules you are running under then try to keep yourself under the ROAR rules, they are pretty good and can apply to your country too.
TheRcfinatic, I have seen in the ROAR rulebook that the turbo glowplugs are now allowed.

I saw the ROAR huge rule book, I’m still reading it.
Well, with your help I decide that a V12 3 port is the right engine for me.
Rcfinatic, next time I will convince my friends to try the soda thing, its interesting and also a cheap solution.
I will be pretty interesting if you send pictures from your car, track etc; I’m a little bit curious about all the stuff around the competition in the USA.
Next month, I will tell you my experience with RB, but I’m sure it will be a pleasant one.
Rody, I bought the RB V12 3 ports turbo plug (430), and I’m experiencing difficulties with the engine tuning, I followed all the instructions for the first start of the engine, but even with the original factory tuning, for the engine is almost impossible to stay “ignited”. I noticed that when I push the throttle, some smoke goes out of the plug, but the plug is properly installed.
