Hi guys,

I am trying to run-in my X12 Rody Modified for a couple of hours straight now. The engine seems to run very lean (hi rev) even if I close the carb. There is no oil comming out of the pipe...

I use 5 turn at high needle and 2.5 at the low needle. I tried to richen up, but the same trouble.

The engine refuse to start if the carb is not open at 50%. So I start the engine, it rev like crazy, I trim down the throttle...it stop. I tried richer, leaner, whistling "Santa Clauss is comming tonight" at the same time, everything. Can get the engine to idle. It's fast and lean, or nothing. It's my 4th engine, I know how to set them, but it's my first Rody. Am I doing something wrong?

Any advices? I think it might be related to an air leak or something?

what car is this in? check to make sure your tank lid is sealing off and the tank is getting fuel to the carb. i had the same prob with mine, for me it was just the stock carb setting was too lean. i live in MS, very humid and hot. my initial settings were 3 out on low speed and 3-3 1/4 out on high speed. also i had to set the idle speed, that was my biggest prob. i had to open it more than normal. also check or change glow plugs, that one may be fouled. hope i helped

Rossi!!!

Fun you ask for the car, because you just gave me an idea!

It's an R40. The throttle arm hit the tank since the X12 carb has a weird angle. So I had to dremel out a part of the tank. I was precautious, but maybe there is a little crack now that cause the tank to not be presurized. Would it have that effect if it's the case?

yes it would, check all your fuel lines, better yet change them. sometimes they look good, but are the culprit.
