is tuing v15-rody the same way as tuning C5?
with that i mean very rich at LSN and lean on HSN.

what do you think "Mike The Snake" ?

i see that the carburator have 3 needles, C5 have 2, can i put a C5 carb on this engine?
will it not be easyer to tune then ?

I agree to disagree with Mike. His tuning method works for him and mine works for me.

I have a V15 and run it so it idles for a long time without problems. I've found that a rich engine in the LSN tends to run hotter because the HSN needs to be leaned in a lot more to compensate. They also tend to be a little erratic.

I have all types of RB's, from .21 buggy engines, to big block .15, small block .15, .12 engines and .21 onroad engines (collari modified and rody modified) and use the same approach to tuning them, they all run without any problems, don't blow plugs, don't get hot and best of all, win races.

Smallblocks seem to tune much differently than the 21's. I was just helping a few people fine tune their 12's in their touring cars, boy that brought back memories.
Here's how I tune a smallblock engine.
After break in, I make sure the thing isn't running too hot. I then adjust the LSN until a good cosistant idle is obtained. (Smallblocks seem to idle forever and prefer leaner LSN settings than 21 size engines.) Then I run it on the track and bring it fully up to temp, and check it. I then dial the HSN in to the appropriate temp (210 to 240).
The LSN can be fine tuned by bringing the car in after a few laps, and let it idle for 15 seconds or so, and then quickly grab full throttle. If it stumbles or dies it's too rich. I lean the LSN until the engine does not load up at all, and that after 15 seconds or so of idling, when you grab the throttle, there is NO hesitation and it takes off like a scalded cat! Once the LSN is set, you won't have to ever touch it again. The HSN is now the heat adjuster on the engine, and you just tune it for temp at this point. 210 to 240 is good. You should be very close at this point to a good tune.
Alex and I have differences in how we tune our 21's but with the smallblocks there is a much smaller "window of tuning preference" and I'm sure we tune smallblocks the same way. Reworded, I'm sure both of our smallblocks are very close as far as final tune goes.
Small blocks tune very differently than big blocks, and they can't be compared tuning wise.

I love diversity...... things don't have to be only black or white!

Small blocks can be sensitive to heat, they tend to vapor lock easily. They can be hard to start when hot.
