I've just brought a new C6 BB LG2 Concept engine for my truggy.
I've been having trouble running it in. As i have found on this very helpful forum there are many aspects to running an RB engine in that can change the characteristics of each engine.
I have so far run around 1000cc of Byron 25% through it whilst it has sat static on my starter box. The problem is that i can't engage the throttle by more than 4-5mil as the engine just stalls.
I have tried a number of methods to maintain idle and increase my chances of being able to run the engine on the ground so that the engine has some load on it whilst I'm running it in.
1) 1/4 off of the idle needle 2) Up to 2 whole turns off of the main needle 3) Changed glo plugs 4) Made sure glow starter is charged 5) Used hairdryer to pre-heat the engine
None of the above have had any significant effect on the engine. And now I'm struggly to even get it to idle for longer than 30 seconds.
I have contemplated starting from scratch again but the carb settings aren't far off of factory settings so I'm now at a complete loss.
I have only run in 1 engine in my life so far and that was a Hobao Mac Star .28.
What is the best course of action now.....?
Thanks
Stuart

Could be there is also a lot of excessive fuel leftover in the pipe and maybe also inside the engine. Take out the glowplug completely, cover the cooling-head and bumpstart your engine for 2 seconds, this will empty the engine. Then mount the glowplug and try again.
if you can get it over to Southampton some time I'll take a look at it for you, or may be Clanners on Wednesday if your about. Guess you need it sorted for the 14th?

"patriotboy" who dat??? Identify yourself! Haha!
Thanks to everyone on this wicked forum my "beast" is now running. Still very rich mind, but she's going well. Fast too.
What I did:
1) Leaned off the lsn by 3/4 of a turn. (Thanks Dave G) 2) Leaned off the hsn by about the same as the lsn. 3) Wrapped the engine in tin foil and pre-heated it with a domestic 1600watt hair drying for 2-5mins. (Thanks Remmington ;-)) 4) Released the glow and emptied the engine of excess fuel and oil. (Thanks Rody) and... 5) Made sure all batteries were charged!
It starts absolutely fine now. Idles really well and is still running rich but goes like s**t off a shovel! Brilliant.
It's had about a gallon of fuel through it (1000cc idle) - Probably the slowest and most careful Nitro Engine run in ever!
The next gallon's going to be where the serious tuning takes place - All ready for 14th Sept.
Thanks again everyone - Really appreciate the help and advice.
