I have a RBS3L2G engine runs ok idles well. I am running 20%/12% Byrons Gen2. I have a *** pipe and i am using RB#6 plugs. I live NC summer temps 80-95. I have 1.5 gallons through engine. I know everyone says don't pay attention to temps but 290! Thats a lil close to 300 which is an engine killer correct?

It seems my engine only makes good power at 250 degrees and up. Today was the 1st time it really wound out temps got up to 290 though. I look through the forums and guys talk about they are running well and there temps are 230 or less. What am I doing wrong? It's really embarrasing when a 1/10th scale 2spd ebay buggy special is passing you like your standing still.

Do I need to remove 1 of the 2 shims?
Do I need to switch plugs?

I am already getting rid of the *** got a 2045 on the way. I heard that those pipes tend to make you run hotter. I love the engine but I am dissapointed in myself. Because I haven't figured out how to get good power and run cool.

Your help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Please read through this forum about the temp gund and they relaiability of their readings...

If your engine is running well, have good smoke all the time coming from the stinger and your idle is stable then I would not worry too much about the temperatures.

Yes as Rody said. I stopped useing any temp guages. My S3 does not run well unless it is runing around 280 and that thing is spitting fuel all over the place. Ignore the temps if you have a good steam of smoke and are not blowing glow plugs run with it.

I personally never had the best luck with Byron fuel, not saying it's bad....I just don't use it anymore.

When I went with O'Donnel, I never looked back. Either 20 or 30% and the motor always runs perfect and never stalls, and I never need to adjust the needles.
